Hi there Comic Tools readers,

my apologies for not posting this week. I'm spending the time I'd usually use making an entry to get my lesson and materials arranged for my speaking event at the Savannah College of Art and Design Atlanta campus (click poster to make it bigger):

The 23rd will just be an introductory day to talk about myself and my (embarrassingly short) career. The 24th will be a workshop on habits and basic tool use, and the 25th will be a workshop on anatomy and perspective for the cartoonist. Plan accordingly.

You can find out about my fellow speaker, who unlike myself has an actual career, here at his website.

How'd the event go? Hope you're doing well.

PS: Would it be any use to you to give you any reports on my own findings concerning comic-tools? For instance, I have recently compared common nib-holders and have found the General's cork nib-holder to be a wonderful improvement over those awful black plastic things.

Every time I look at that image it reads as SEAN MATT and MURPHY BERNIER. These names sound like the heroes of a fantasy novel set in Quebec City.

This is a totally unrelated question. How do you clean the bristles of a Pentel pocket brush pen? I've been Googling and I can't seem to find this. Thanks.

Ed, about the pocket brush. I've heard of people using just cold water, flushing it out. Or standard pen cleaners.

A good forum to ask around on is Penciljack.com. Lost of fans/users of the Pentel Brush there.

I caution you about the pen cleaner as I've read accounts of people cleaning theirs out, and then they just leak randomly from that point forward....

best of luck. I haven't had to clean mine yet, never noticed anything drying out. It gets used randomly.

so about that scanning.... :)

^ Also curious. I bought an external hard drive, outfit to match our fearless blogger and now I'm just stuck standing here! My arm is getting SO tired.

:P

Actually, I'm really looking forward to some scanning chit chat.

Scanning is easy, there's a button on the front of it that you push. You'll know your scanner software is working correctly when you hear the sound effects.

I'd get a better scanner if I were you. Mine makes actual sounds, as opposed to sound effects. :-P
